Lower credit cost target, improved NII outlook
At the analyst meeting, TIDLOR lowered its credit cost guidance and indicated a stronger NII outlook, driven by a recovery in loan growth and further NIM expansion in 2H26. We raise our 2026F earnings forecast by 2%, mainly reflecting higher loan growth and lower credit costs. We now project 2026F earnings growth of 28%, the highest in the sector. We maintain an Outperform rating with an unchanged TP of Bt23 on the back of the sector's strongest earnings growth in 2026F and an attractive valuation of 1.45x PBV relative to an ROE of 17%.
Lower credit cost guidance. TIDLOR lowered its credit cost guidance for the second time to 2-2.5% from 2.3-2.8% (vs. original guidance of 2.5-2.8%) to fine-tune for a lower-than-expected 1H26 credit cost of 1.88% and well-controlled asset quality. Debt collection in July remained stable. We thus cut our credit cost forecasts again by 5 bps each to 2.25% (-64 bps) in 2026 and 2% in 2027.
Accelerating loan growth in 2H26. TIDLOR expects its loan growth to further recover in 2H26 after rising 2.3% QoQ, 6.1% YoY, and 2.6% YTD in 2Q26, driven by an easing of credit policy in areas affected by floods last year. The company observed good momentum in title loan growth and a potential recovery in truck loans. We raise our loan growth forecasts by 1 ppt to 7% in 2026 and 8% in 2027.
Further ease in cost of funds in 2H26 and 2027. TIDLOR expects its cost of funds to fall further by 5-10 bps in 2H26 and minimally in 2027. We thus expect NIM to expand further in 2H26 and 2027. We project NIM to increase by 48 bps in 2026 and 16 bps in 2027, driven by improvements in both loan yield and cost of funds.
Highest 2026F earnings growth. We raise our 2026F earnings forecast by 2%, mainly on stronger loan growth and lower credit costs. We now forecast 2026F earnings to deliver the highest growth among peers at 28%, underpinned by 1) 7% loan growth, 2) a 48 bps NIM expansion from better loan yield and lower cost of funds, 3) a 64 bps drop in credit cost, 4) a 7% rise in non-NII, and 5) a 95 bps drop in the cost-to-income ratio to 54.4%. We expect 2H26 earnings to increase HoH (driven by higher NII and non-NII) and YoY (supported by a stronger topline and lower ECL).
Treasury stock program. TIDLOR currently has a share buyback program budgeted at up to Bt2.4bn running from May 28 to Nov 27, 2026. Under the program, it can repurchase a maximum of 122.824mn shares, representing up to 4.24% of total shares. To date, the company has repurchased 18.97mn shares (0.66% of total shares). This program should support its share price and enhance ROE by around 100 bps.
Maintain OUTPERFORM with an unchanged TP. We maintain OUTPERFORM rating on the back of the strongest earnings growth in 2026F and attractive valuation at 1.45x PBV relative to ROE of 17%. We maintained mid-2027F TP at Bt23 (based on 1.65x PBV or 10.5x PE).
Key risks: 1) Asset quality risk from an economic slowdown, 2) NIM risk from possibility of a policy rate hike to cope with rising inflation, 3) regulatory risk and 4) ESG risk from market conduct.
