Daily top picks

Ceasefire hopes to lead to rebound

The SET is expected to rebound after falling to test a previous low of 1056, where a fall usually stops and recovers. Supports are at 1056 and 1050, while resistances are at 1070 and 1080. Trump has said that Iran and Israel have agreed to a ceasefire, which will ease risky assets. Domestically, follow the announcement of economic stimulus by the Ministry of Finance at noon today.

Today’s highlights

• Today at 12:00, watch for the Minister of Finance’s announcement of economic stimulus worth Bt115bn already approved by the major economic stimulus board. Stimulus is centered around transportation projects (39.8%), water projects (33.9%), export/productivity (9.6%), and tourism (8.7%).
• The Ministry of Energy says that if the Strait of Hormuz is closed, Thailand will face significantly higher costs: of total imports, ~56.5% is crude oil and 42.4% is fertilizers, all passing through the Strait. It recommends accelerating purchases from alternative sources, increasing crude oil reserves, and promoting clean energy use to reduce long-term risks.
• Deputy PM Phumtham said there is progress on the cabinet reshuffle, with the appointment of a new cabinet completed this week, but gave no names for ministerial appointments.
• The Thai Hotels Association has asked the PM to review the decision on the rise in minimum wage to Bt400/day effective from July 1st, particularly for the service sector and hotel industry, as this will raise costs by 10-15% and have greater impact in provinces with fewer tourists, burdening operators during a period of slowing tourism.
• The Constitutional Court scheduled a special session for July 1 to consider the Senate's petition to remove the PM and has ordered suspension of duties after the audio clip controversy.
• The SET has accepted the registration of 3 new DRs referencing stocks and ETFs in Hong Kong (BABA23, CATL23 and HSHD23) issued by INVX, to start trading on June 24.

Strategy today

In the short term the SET is expected to continue to fluctuate in response to external and domestic pressures. For external factors, there is tension in the Middle East and additional trade negotiations and unilateral tariffs by the US on trading partners, while for domestic factors, there is political uncertainty and progress of stimulus packages - tourism stimulus and Bt157bn economic stimulus. However, we believe the SET at below 1100 or PER 2025F of below 12x is still an attractive point for medium- to long-term investors to accumulate-buy. Our investment strategy remains "Selective Buy".

Trading today

The SET is expected to continue to fluctuate as it faces external and domestic pressure: the Middle East, Trump’s trade war, local politics and the stimulus package. Our investment strategy is for "selective buy" in three main themes and one trading theme with specific positives:
1. Defensive stocks that fluctuate little and whose profit is expected to be able to withstand external pressure – DIF, BDMS and BCH.
2. High-quality dividend stocks (SET50 with SETESG Rating A or higher) for generating cash flow for the portfolio in the short term, expected to pay an interim dividend off 1H25 profit with dividend yield higher than 2% - ADVANC, BBL and PTT.
3. Earnings plays whose profit is growing, with 2Q25 core profit expected to grow YoY and QoQ – ADVANC, CPALL and BTG.
4. Trading idea: For high-risk-takers who want to speculate on the Middle East tension, choose stocks that benefit from higher oil price – PTT and PTTEP.

Daily Top picks

BCPG: We initiate coverage on BCPG, recommending Outperform with a 2025 TP of Bt7.8 (DCF approach). 2025 profit is expected to grow 32% and grow another 24% in 2026, driven by higher capacity payments in the US and startup of new projects in 2H25. The stock is trading at a 2025F PER of 10.9x and PBV of 0.5x; dividend yield is expected to be a solid 4.5%.

KTB: Price is expected to recover in line with the market. KTB is our top pick in the Bank sector. It has upside from a higher dividend payout, peaked credit cost in 1Q25 with a decline over the rest of the year, lower asset quality risk than peers and high LLR coverage.
