Daily top picks
Facing poor sentiment
The SET is expected to fall as DELTA, which has been driving the market, will exert pressure after service figures by ISM and US JOLTS came in higher than expected, pressuring Nasdaq, plus rising US bond yield and especially concerns whether or not the Fed will cut interest rate. The index has supports at 1380 and 1370, while resistance is between 1400-1410.
Today’s highlights

- Thai National Shippers' Council (TNSC) expects December export growth of over 4.5%, pulling 2024 export growth to 4.5-5.0%. It forecasts 2025 export growth at 1-3%, though with high uncertainty due to geopolitical conflicts and US trade tensions.
- The Cabinet approved a FY2026 expenditure framework of Bt3.78tn, +0.7%YoY, with a deficit of Bt860bn or 4.3% of GDP. The PM said after the meeting that there will be no cabinet reshuffle, especially the Minister of Energy.

Strategy today
In the short term, the SET is expected to move sideways between 1370-1410. Although Chinese economic figures are expected to recover, and the US economy is still strong, investors are waiting for Trump’s trade policies after he is inaugurated on Jan 20. Domestic factors are mixed on expectation of stimulus, which will be gradually released and start to show some results from the beginning of the year. However, the market may be pressured by the lack of any new catalyst and concerns over political stability, which may impact the direction of fund flows, while there is also selling of matured LTFs. Investment strategy is "Selective Buy".
Trading today
In the short term, the SET is expected to move sideways with no new catalyst, watching for political stability and Trump’s trade policies, while selling of matured LTFs will pressure fund flow. Investment strategy is "Selective Buy" across three themes with positive individual factors and one short-term trading idea:
- Stocks benefiting from government consumption stimulus, Easy e-Receipt, running from Jan 16 to Feb 28, and a Bt10,000 handout around Chinese New Year: Commerce (CRC, HMPRO, CPALL and TNP), Consumption (CBG and OSP) and Tourism (MINT).
- As an attraction to investors wishing to generate cash flow for their portfolios: stocks offering high dividend yield of over 3% on 2024 earnings, with strong balance sheets and continued growth in 2025 – AP, KTB, BBL and PTT.
- Earnings plays: Stocks where 4Q24 profit is expected to grow YoY and QoQ and who regularly pay dividends – OSP, AMATA, AU, TIDLOR and BCP.
- Trading idea for high-risk investors: stocks expected to benefit from China’s government stimulus – IVL and PTTGC.
Daily top picks
HMPRO: 4Q24 core profit is expected to grow YoY and QoQ from branch expansion and higher EBIT margin. SSS in 1Q25 is expected to grow driven by incoming stimulus (Easy e-Receipt 2.0 in Jan-Feb 2025). Valuation is attractive, trading at 2024F and 2025F PER lower than -2S.D.
PTTEP: Strong rise in oil price in the short term is a catalyst to the stock price. It is seen as a hedging asset to the Middle East conflict. Profit and balance sheet are strong. 2024 core profit is estimated at Bt77bn, and debt-to-equity ratio is less than 0.3x. Recommend to buy for trading at not higher than Bt124.50/share.
