(Presentation)

Investment theme: Selected for decent growth with justifiable valuation
- Selected for decent growth: MTC, TIDLOR, from moderate loan growth and easing credit cost with stable asset quality.
- Selected for valuation: TIDLOR and MTC have PEG less than 1x. AEONTS has PBV below 1x.
- Stable asset quality from a rise in used car prices and deleveraging of householding debt with less asset quality risk than banks from the trade war.
- Decent growth in title loans with rising loan demand from a temporary ease in competition from commercial banks and the economic slowdown as the countercyclical sector.
- L-T benefit from the downtrend in interest rates with S-T positive sentiment on share prices.
- Overweight on title loan operators.
- Top pick: TIDLOR and MTC have both decent growth and justifiable valuation
Stable asset quality but at indirect risk from trade war
- We expect to see stable asset quality, despite the fading of tailwinds from the government cash handout. This is supported by stabilizing used car prices, more cautious credit policy, proactive debt collection and the “You Fight, We Help” program (except SAWAD which did not join the program).
- We raised our 2025F credit cost for consumer finance companies under coverage by 5 bps to accommodate INVX’s cut in 2025F GDP to 1.4% from 2.5% to factor in the trade war. We now forecast a 15 bps fall in the sector’s credit cost in 2025, despite an expected QoQ rise in credit cost. MTC is expected to see the largest fall in 2025F credit cost at 16 bps.
- Amidst the economic slowdown, we prefer secured loan operators (MTC, TIDLOR and SAWAD) to unsecured loan operators (AEONTS, KTC).
- From our standpoint, the asset quality risk from the trade war will weigh most heavily on AEONTS as it has the highest exposure to factory workers, who may face layoffs as a result of the trade war. We are also concerned about TIDLOR, which has the highest exposure to truck loans (15-16% of total loans), where borrowers may be hit by weaker exports.
