4Q24 net profit was Bt2.2bn, -30% YoY but +2% QoQ, 20% below estimates from one-off share swap expenses and FX loss. 4Q24 core profit was Bt2.97mn, +14% YoY and +82% QoQ, 6% above estimates on better other income. In 1Q25TD, SSS is flat YoY, stable in Thailand and it is being hit by currency translation from VND and EUR to a stronger THB. We cut our 2025F by 3%, factoring in a cut in SSS and equity income. CRC is now trading at 21.6x 2025 PE with 7% 2025 EPS growth (vs peer average of 19x 2025 PE and 11% 2025 EPS growth). After the revision, which narrows upside, we downgrade our 3-month rating to NEUTRAL from Outperform with a new end-2025 DCF TP (WACC 7.1%, LT growth 2.5%) of Bt37.5 (from Bt39).
4Q24 net profit was Bt2.2bn, -30% YoY but +2% QoQ, 20% below estimates on Bt794mn one-off expenses: Bt137mn FX loss and Bt657mn loss from a share swap transaction where Porto Worldwide Limited (67% held by CRC) swapped its entire 40% stake in GrabTaxi Holdings (Thailand) Co., Ltd at book value including equity income booked earlier to take 1% stake in Grab Holdings Ltd, which listed on NASDAQ, at market price. 4Q24 core profit was Bt2.97mn, +14% YoY and +82% QoQ, 6% above estimates on better other income. The YoY rise was backed by better sales via expansion, wider EBIT margin on lower SG&A/sales and higher other income; the jump QoQ was seasonal. It is paying a 2024 DPS of Bt0.6, XD on May 6.
2025 guidance. Sales. In 2025, CRC targets sales growth of 6-10% YoY, with low single-digit SSS growth and store expansion/renovations. By country, it expects sales to grow 2-3% YoY in Thailand (73% of 2024 sales), 6% YoY in Vietnam (20% of sales) and flat YoY in Italy (7% of sales). SSS. From Jan 1 to Feb 23, SSS was flat YoY in THB terms, growing in Jan but shrinking in Feb. In local currencies YTD, SSS is flat YoY in Thailand, up slightly YoY in Vietnam (VND) but down slightly YoY in Italy (EUR). Store expansion. CRC plans to add 10 Tops stores (vs 9 in 2024), 4 Thai Wasadu stores (vs 7 in 2024, matching the overall economy), 4 Go Wholesale (vs 6 stores in 2024, adjusting staff and system management before further expansion), and no new department stores (vs 2 in 2024) in Thailand. In Vietnam, it plans to add 2 hypermarkets and malls (vs 3 stores and malls in 2024) and 3 Mini go! stores (vs 5 stores in 2024). Margin. CRC expects retail gross margin to be stable YoY with an offset of more low-margin food sales (store expansion in Vietnam and Go Wholesale format) by higher margin in all businesses, lower SG&A/sales YoY (vs 27.4% in 2024) on controlled staffing, promotions and rental & depreciation expenses, with double-digit EBITDA growth YoY. CAPEX is set at Bt17-19bn. Grab transaction. CRC’s 2025 equity income will be lower upon the absence of Bt300mn annual equity income from GrabTaxi Holdings (Thailand) Co., Ltd. The change in fair value of Grab Holdings Ltd will be recorded in CRC’s other comprehensive income, not affecting earnings on the P&L. The share swap into Grab Holdings Ltd gives CRC an investment exit option in the future. If monetizing shares at last close on NASDAQ, this will give CRC proceeds of Bt5bn, which could be used to repay debt and cut its interest expenses by Bt150mn.
Earnings revision. We cut our 2025F by 3%, cutting our SSS assumption to 1.5% (from 3%) to reflect fragile SSS YTD with a strengthening in the THB against the VND of 7% YoY and the EUR of 8% YoY YTD, also cutting Bt300mn in equity income by taking out Grab, which will outstrip the cut in interest expenses from lower cost of funds.
