3Q25: Below INVX on equity income
3Q25 core profit was Bt6.1bn, -8% YoY and -45% QoQ, missing our estimate of Bt6.5bn from low equity income but above market consensus of Bt5bn. With lower swine prices in Thailand and Vietnam and in China (China’s prices are below breakeven at the gross profit level for big players) in 4Q25TD, 4Q25F earnings are expected to be unexciting, down QoQ and YoY. Factoring in low swine prices in 4Q25TD cuts our 2025-26F by 6%. We maintain NEUTRAL with a new mid-2026 SOTP TP of Bt25 (from Bt27): Bt8.4 for CPF (5-7x PE for feed, farm, food units) and Bt16.6 for CPALL and CPAXT.
3Q25 net profit was Bt5.2bn, -29% YoY and -50% QoQ. Excluding Bt912mn one-off losses (loss on a change in biological assets), 3Q25 core profit was Bt6.1bn, -8% YoY and -45% QoQ, slightly below our estimate of Bt6.5bn on weaker equity income (CTI, CPALL, CPAXT) than expected but better than market estimates of Bt5bn. The YoY drop was due to lower equity income (CTI’s shift to a loss from lower swine price in China and lower CPAXT earnings from a narrowed EBIT margin), while the decline QoQ was due to a narrower livestock margin on lower swine prices in Thailand and Vietnam, plus lower equity income from CTI, CPALL and CPAXT.
Key takeaway from meeting. Local swine price is Bt59/kg (-18% YoY, -14% QoQ) in 4Q25TD, down from Bt68/kg in 3Q25, Bt83/kg in 1H25, and Bt70/kg in 2024. By month, price was Bt56/kg (-5% MoM, -21% YoY) in October, below breakeven cost at the gross profit level for big players of Bt55-60/kg, from weak demand in the rainy season and the vegetarian festival plus industry supply chain disruption from the Cambodian labor shortage. In Nov to date, price has edged up to Bt62/kg (+12% MoM, -15% YoY) and Bt63-64/kg on seasonally better demand and relief of the worker shortage. CPF expects local swine price to edge up to at least above breakeven cost at the gross profit level for small players of Bt70-75/kg, based on moderate new pig supply in 2025F and 2026F and supply & demand balancing via collaboration requested by the National Swine Raisers Association of Thailand starting from September. Local broiler price is Bt37-38/kg (-3% YoY, -7% QoQ) in 4Q25TD (close to cost breakeven) and CPF expects price to improve gradually from robust export sales. Overseas swine price. Swine price in Vietnam has fallen to VND50,000/kg in 4Q25TD (-18% YoY, -15% QoQ vs cost breakeven at VND45,500/kg) from an ASF-led swine supply dump; swine price in China has fallen to CNY12/kg in 4Q25TD (-29% YoY, -14% QoQ vs cost breakeven at CNY14/kg) on huge supply amid moderate demand. With better supply after the alleviation of ASF in Vietnam and the start of China’s government control via a slaughter weight limit to prevent excess meat production, CPF expects overseas swine prices to improve gradually from these levels in 2026F. Feed costs. In 4Q25TD, spot corn & soybean meal costs fell to Bt9.8/kg (-2% YoY, -5% QoQ) and Bt13.8/kg (-25% YoY, -4% QoQ), lowering production costs. CPF expects feed costs to stay low from abundant supply, with potentially lower corn cost if US corn imports (priced 15% below Thailand’s; import quota at 1mn tons vs local corn demand of 9mn tons) is allowed in Feb-June 2026F as per Cabinet approval. Other overseas. In 2025F, it expects losses from Bellesio in the US to continue from higher imported ingredient costs, and is now looking for a partner to generate business synergy and turn the business around. Regulatory adjustment of listing rules in Vietnam will support the planned listing of C.P. Vietnam on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange in 2026F, which is expected to reduce CPF’s net IBD/E.
Key risks:Weak prices from fragile purchasing power and more supply, high feed costs, strong THB. Key ESG risks are GHG emission, waste & water management (E), customer welfare, product quality management, health & safety policies (S).
