1Q26: In line with expectations
In line with expectations, BAM’s 1Q26 results reflected seasonally weak cash collection and toplines with easing credit cost and cost of funds. We expect 2Q26F earnings to rise QoQ (seasonally larger cash collection) but plunge YoY (lower cash collection off the exceptionally high 2Q25 from large NPL and NPA deals). We maintain OUTPERFORM as dividend yield is still a good 6.8% and there is upside from potential new JVAMCs.
1Q26: In line with expectations. BAM reported 1Q26 earnings of Bt217mn, up 84% QoQ and stable YoY, in line with estimates. The highlights are summarized below.
1) Cash collection: Total cash collection fell 25% QoQ on seasonality and 5% YoY in 1Q26. Cash collection from NPLs decreased 2% QoQ but increased 4% YoY. Cash collection from NPAs plunged 50% QoQ and 20% YoY.
2) NPL management: Interest income fell 13% QoQ and 16% YoY with a higher proportion of amount received and lower proportion of accrued receivables. Gain on NPLs dropped 26% QoQ and 41% YoY. Gross margin on NPL cash collection fell 5.58 ppt QoQ and 13.65 ppt YoY.
3) Gain on NPAs plunged 61% QoQ and 25% YoY. Gross margin from NPA cash collection fell 8.54 ppt QoQ and 1.71 ppt YoY.
4) Credit cost (excluding accrued interest) fell 59 bps QoQ and was stable YoY.
5) Cost of funds eased 13 bps QoQ and 23 bps YoY.
2Q26F and 2026F earnings outlook. 1Q26 earnings accounted for just 13% of our full-year forecast. We expect 2Q26F earnings to rise QoQ (seasonally larger cash collection) but plunge YoY (lower cash collection off the exceptional high in 2Q25 which had large NPL and NPA deals). We expect 2026F earnings to fall 5% with an expected 8% fall in cash collection, a 20 bps fall in cost of funds, a 17 bps drop in credit cost (due to lower reserves for NPAs purchased from the Legal Execution Department) and a 4% decrease in opex (smaller impairment losses on NPAs).
Good dividend yield. We expect 2026F DPS to be Bt0.45 (85% payout) vs. Bt0.5 for 2025 (89% payout), giving a still-solid yield of 6.8%.
Maintain OUTPERFORM with an unchanged TP. Dividend yield for 2026F is still good at 6.7% and given upside from the potential new JVAM, we maintain OUTPERFORM with an unchanged TP of Bt7.5 (based on DDM).
Key risks: 1) Cash collection risk from an economic slowdown and rising inflationary pressure, 2) a slowdown in property market demand and 3) rising competition from new players.
